MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax) - Pavel Kanygin, a Novaya Gazeta special correspondent, who was reportedly detained in the self-proclaimed Donetsk people's republic (DPR) earlier on Tuesday, has returned to Russia, Novaya Gazeta reported on its website.
"Kanygin said he was dropped off not far from the Russian-Ukrainian border checkpoint of Matveyev Kurgan," Novaya Gazeta said.
The newspaper had posted a statement earlier on Tuesday claiming that Kanygin had been detained by "DPR security agencies."
