MOSCOW. June 26 (Interfax) - The West is increasingly making unilateral decisions which are a prerogative of international institutes, first and foremost, the UN Security Council, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin has said.
"Our partners seem not to notice that the extension of anti-Russian sanctions and various accompanying gestures not only happen in evasion of the UN Security Council but also directly violate its resolution passed in a unanimous vote," Naryshkin said at the Open Rostrum meeting dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the UN Charter.
In his words, the United Nations Organization "has never fit the unipolar world projects which Washington politicians maniacally dream about" and violations of prerogatives of the UN Security Council have often led to tragedies.
"And now the Minsk agreements, which have practically become part of a UN Security Council resolution, are being sabotaged," Naryshkin said.
He said that this was not the only reason to worry. "Seventy years ago the UN adamantly rejected the Nazi ideology but today such ideas as inequality of peoples and countries and principles of national exclusiveness are being advocated openly and with impunity," the chairman of the lower house of the Russian parliament said.
