Self-proclaimed Donetsk republic head accuses Kyiv of not complying with Minsk agreements

DONETSK. June 29 (Interfax) - Oleksandr Zakharchenko, the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk people's republic (DPR), has accused the Ukrainian leadership of failing to comply with the Minsk agreements.

"Kyiv hasn't fulfilled any of the obligations it undertook in Minsk, be it the ceasefire regulations and Donbas's self-government, and [Ukrainian President Petro] Poroshenko's statements on the matter are just another lie," Zakharchenko told the Donetsk news agency.

"If we talk about the constitutional formalization of the law on special status passed back in March, it was supposed to be only the first step toward ending the conflict rather than its final resolution. Poroshenko's allegations that he is so fulfilling the obligations assumed in Minsk are a lame attempt to conceal the gross violation of these agreements, especially considering that none of these seeming amendments and legislative initiatives has been agreed upon with us," he said.

"All Kyiv is doing is trying to revise the results of the legitimate referendums and elections of government bodies, which established a truly popular composition of the DPR and LPR [the self-proclaimed Luhansk people's republic] authorities," Zakharchenko said.

"The republic cannot agree to this," he said.
