CIS security services searching for almost 3,400 terrorists, extremists

ASTANA. June 29 (Interfax) - The special-purpose database of the CIS Antiterrorism Center contains the names of over 3,300 persons wanted for terrorist and extremist crimes, CIS Antiterrorism Center first deputy head Kanat Kozhakhmetov has reported.

"As of May 2015, [we had] 3,378 persons on our books. The lists contain information about possible whereabouts of the wanted persons which comes from relevant authorities of CIS member countries," he said in Astana on Monday, at a regional conference of Central and South Asian states dedicated to the prevention of extremism.

In his words, these measures allow CIS member countries to take joint and coordinated measures towards the detention of wanted terrorists and extremists.
