ST. PETERSBURG. June 30 (Interfax-AVN) - The Shanghai Cooperation Organization's development strategy for the period up to 2025 is expected to be confirmed at an SCO summit, due to be held in Ufa, the capital of Russia's Republic of Bashkortostan, in July 2015, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov has said.

"The upcoming summit is expected to approve the SCO Development Strategy for the period up to 2025 - one of the key documents that determine the prospects of our work," Antonov told reporters after a meeting of the SCO defense ministers in St. Petersburg on Tuesday.

This document is "intended to help the organization to reach a more effective level of partnership in all areas, including the military one," he said.

"This document also offers an analysis of the main tendencies of global and regional development," the deputy defense minister said.

"Maintaining security amid new challenges and threats is considered to be a fundamental principle of the development of cooperation within the SCO," Antonov said.
