PR Defense Ministry ready to give OSCE monitors access to Shyrokyne

MOSCOW. July 1 (Interfax) - The Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) is ready to give OSCE monitors access to Shyrokyne and to grant them control over the situation in that town, senior official of the DPR Defense Ministry Eduard Basurin has told Interfax.

"We have always said we are open to cooperation with the OSCE, for instance, we are ready to give them access to Shyrokyne and grant them control over the situation in that populated locality," Basurin said.

He could not say during what period control over the situation in Shyrokyne would be fully transferred to OSCE monitors.

Earlier, DPR authorities promised not to fire on Shyrokyne and unilaterally declared it a demilitarized zone.

DPR negotiator Denis Pushilin proposed the granting to the OSCE monitoring mission of control over the situation in the town and said it would be "the guarantor of peace and tranquility."
