MOSCOW. July 6 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with Iran's President Hassan Rouhani during a Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Ufa.
"The emphasis at the meeting will be on further expansion of trade and economic relations," Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov told reporters. "Despite western sanctions against Russia and Iran and the general worsening of the global economic situation, bilateral trade in 2014 rose 5% to $1.7 billion," he said.
The pair are "expected to exchange their views on pressing international issues, primarily, the efforts to resolve the situation around the Iranian nuclear program, assistance in resolving regional conflicts and countering the terror threat," the Kremlin official said.
