Egypt intends to get SCO dialogue partner status - Ushakov (Part 2)

MOSCOW. July 6 (Interfax) - Egypt applied for dialogue partner status in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on July 2, the Kremlin said.

"The SCO Secretariat received an application for dialogue partner status from a big country such as Egypt on July 2," Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said.

"We now have some 11 requests for observer or dialogue partner status in the SCO," he said.

Ushakov said that among the countries seeking observer or dialogue partner status in the SCO are Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Sri Lanka, Syria, Ukraine, the Maldives and Cambodia.
