MOSCOW. July 7 (Interfax) - The Russian viewpoint on Syria has not changed; it has been reiterated in a recent telephone conversation between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.
"Indeed, opinions on this matter have been exchanged. The Russian viewpoint is well known, and the president reiterated it in that conversation," Peskov said after he was asked to comment on a statement by the U.S. president that settlement in Syria was possible only through the formation of a new government without Bashar al-Assad.
