Syrian diplomat supports Russian antiterrorism proposal

MOSCOW. July 7 (Interfax) - Syrian Ambassador to Moscow Riyad Haddad has backed the Russian initiative to create an international association for fighting terrorism.

"The international community should support the proposal of Vladimir Putin to set up an association for fighting terrorism and extremism," Haddad told reporters on Tuesday.

The Syrian ambassador to Russia stressed the importance of pooling international efforts in the resolution of the Palestinian problem as well.

"It is necessary to pool efforts of international law [sic] in order to prevent interference of third-party countries in regional affairs. This will provide regional security," Haddad said.
