Decision on whether to corporatize Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center rests with Roscosmos - Training Center head

ZHUKOVSKY (Moscow region). Aug 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Even if the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) decides to corporatize the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center, it will remain a federal budget-funded institution for the next five years, Cosmonaut Training Center head Yury Lonchakov told journalists at the MAKS 2015 international air show on Wednesday.

"The question about [the Cosmonaut Training Center's] corporatization should be addressed not to us but to Roscosmos, but, in line with the law and the Cosmonaut Training Center's charter, we will remain a federal budget-funded institution for another five years," Lonchakov said.

It was reported earlier that, as part of Roscosmos's transformation into a state corporation and the national space rocket industry's reform, all its enterprises will be corporatized. Roscosmos State Corporation CEO Igor Komarov said the reform in general might take up to ten years.
