Georgia slow to sign agreement on non-use of force - South Ossetian head

MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax) - Tbilisi has been dodging an agreement on the non-use of force with Tskhinvali and Sukhumi, South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov has said.

"Present-day sentiments in Georgia practically do not differ from what they were before and during 2008. So, our republic does not maintain any relations with Georgia. We think that Georgia should repent and guarantee to South Ossetia that the events of August 2008 will not be repeated," he said in an interview with the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, adding that it could be done by signing an agreement on the non-use of force.

This is how South Ossetia and Abkhazia have posed this question but Georgia has been avoiding the conclusion of this document 'by hook or by crook'.

"Unless this agreement is signed, we will not agree to any relations or negotiations. Georgia needs to put up with the reality and to recognize the independence of our republic," Tibilov said.

After that it may be possible "to discuss a normal form of interstate communication," the South Ossetian leader said.
