MOSCOW. Sept 7 (Interfax) - Tajik police and security officers have neutralized four members of the criminal group led by Abduhalim Mirzo Nazarzoda (Hji Halim) during clashes in the Romit Gorge, a spokesperson for the Tajik Interior Ministry and State National Security Committee said on Sunday evening.
"Also, seven group members have been apprehended, and a large amount of weapons and ammunition seized, including 18 AKM automatic rifles, 50 magazines and various cartridges," the spokesperson said.
"The Tajik Interior Ministry and State National Security Committee express their gratefulness to all citizens who provided their assistance in eliminating A.M. Nazarzoda's criminal group. Citizens who make their contribution in the elimination of this criminal group will be rewarded by the law enforcement authorities of the republic," the spokesperson said.
Police and security forces continue their joint operations aimed at eliminating Nazarzoda's terrorist group in the Romit Gorge in Vahdat District, the spokesperson said.
The Romit Gorge is 150 kilometers east of the Tajik capital. At least 40 people have been killed on both sides over the two days of the mutiny staged by Maj. Gen. Nazarzoda.
