Ukraine's foreign minister intends to interact with Mogherini in seeking solution for Sentsov and Savchenko problem

KYIV. Sept 7 (Interfax) - Ukraine's Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has expressed his thankfulness to High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini for her support in relation to the cases of Ukrainian citizens Oleh Sentsov, Oleksandr Kolchenko and Nadiya Savchenko who are currently imprisoned in Russia.

"I have thanked @FedericaMog [Mogherini] for her personal support in the cases of Sentsov, Kolchneko and Savchenko. Together we will be working further until we have them and others released," Klimkin wrote on his blog on Twitter following his meeting with Mogherini in Brussels on Monday.

On September 8, the Ukrainian foreign ministry will hold an online event as a tribute to the Ukrainians imprisoned in Russia, the ministry's press service said.

Back on August 25, the Northern Caucasus District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don handed out a guilty verdict to Ukrainian film director Oleh Sentsov convicted of making preparations for a terrorist attack in Crimea. In a cumulative punishment for his crimes Sentsov has been sentenced to 20 years in a high-security colony. The second defendant in this case, Kolchenko, has been found guilty of participation in a terrorist community and participation in a terrorist act. In a cumulative punishment for his crimes he has been sentenced to 10 years in a high-security colony.

The Donetsk City Court in the Rostov region is currently trying the case of Ukrainian pilot and member of parliament Savchenko, charged with the murder of Russian journalists.
