Putin says strengthening of global cooperation in emergencies prevention is important

NOGINSK (Moscow region). Sept 11 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed participants and guests of the second international forum of firemen and rescuers which opened at the Noginsk rescue center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Moscow region.

"At present the scale of man-made catastrophes and natural disasters is becoming increasingly transborder, and therefore it is extremely important to build up regional and global cooperation in every way to prevent and eliminate the aftermath of emergency situations," the president said in a message of greetings read at the opening of the forum by Minister of Emergency Situations Vladimir Puchkov.

"Russia was always seeking to consolidate the efforts of countries and organizations in this priority trend. We have the richest experience of rescue and humanitarian operations across the globe," the president said in the message of greetings. "We are ready to share our unique developments and give assistance in the training of personnel. In turn, we hope for the possibility to study in detail the methods of our foreign colleagues," the message of greetings said.

The president said with confidence that the holding of the forum would become a tangible contribution in the resolution of important tasks related to the counteraction against challenges and contemporary threats, and will promote the strengthening of a partnership based on trust and support.

Over 130 delegates from 70 countries are participating in the forum.
