Airstrikes upon IS without Damascus' clearance narrow opportunities to combat terrorism - Russia's envoy to NATO

MOSCOW. Oct 9 (Interfax) - The international anti-Islamic State coalition's actions in Syria without Damascus's clearance in fact complicate efforts against terrorism in this country, Russia's permanent envoy to NATO Alexander Grushko said.

"The so-called anti-ISIL coalition is striking sites on Syrian territory without the Syrian government's agreement. This situation significantly weakens the stimuli for interaction and certainly narrows opportunities for a broad and comprehensive approach in combating terrorism," Grushko told journalists on Friday.

At the same time, Grushko said, "only Russia is acting in line with international law in this country."
