KRASNAYA POLYANA (Sochi). Oct 23 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin gives such explanation for the U.S. failures in the fight against terrorism that one mustn't play a double game.
"It is always hard to play a double game: announcing the fight against terrorists and trying to use a part of them in order to position pawns on the mid-eastern board at the same time - seemingly, in your own interests," Putin said when speaking at the Valdai International Discussion Club.
He added that "it is impossible to successfully defeat terrorism in general once a part of terrorists is used as a battering ram in overthrowing undesirable regimes".
"You got nowhere to run from these terrorists afterwards, it's just an illusion that later on, they can be handled, removed from power or somehow able to come to terms with. The best example of it is the situation in Libya," Putin said.
