MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax-AVN) - The 2015 plan of laying the keel of Russian Navy ships is 75% met, Navy Deputy Commander for Armaments Vice-Admiral Viktor Bursuk said in a program aired by Rossiya 24 television station.
"We were planned to lay the keel of approximately 50 vessels and despite the economic problems our country was encountering the plan was practically 75% met and the Navy started building those ships in 2015," Bursuk said on Friday.
In his words, the Russian Navy is planned to acquire 47 ships and vessels before the end of this year, and practically all of them are completing state trials.
Bursuk reminded that the long-term shipbuilding program for the period until 2050 was a strategic document of the Navy, and the Navy command had all grounds to believe that the shipbuilding program would definitely be fulfilled.
