MOSCOW. Oct 30 (Interfax) - The security subgroup of the Contact Group for Ukraine is due to elaborate and formalize a mechanism for verifying arms withdrawal from the contact line, a source in the Contact Group has told Interfax.
"It has been agreed that the OSCE will control the absence of heavy armaments in the security zone, but there is still no clear understanding of how this will happen. The roadblocks will be either permanent or mobile," the source said.
The security subgroup will soon discuss the possibility of putting down in writing the arms withdrawal verification principles, he said.
"There is a need for a transparent mechanism: so far there is no such mechanism, it is not formalized anywhere, and the security subgroup is supposed to deal with this," the source said.
