ANTALYA. Nov 16 (Interfax) - Russia fully supports the coordination by Jordan of the work to update the lists of terrorist organizations operating in Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"The issue of counterterrorism was also mentioned in the context of Syria because ISIL, Jabhat al-Nusra and other terrorist groups are a common enemy and the work done in the Syria Support Group that met in Vienna yesterday and the work to update the list of terrorist organizations, in addition to those that are already stated in UN Security Council decisions, was supported," Lavrov said following an informal meeting between the leaders of the BRICS countries.
He said the work to update these lists will be coordinated by Jordan. "That's what was decided in Vienna yesterday, it suits us fully, including because we have recently created a Russian-Jordanian antiterrorist center in the Kingdom's capital Amman," the minister said.
He said this idea was backed by all ministers, including U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, in Vienna.
"Everyone agreed that it will be a good venue for our actions to update the list of terrorist organizations. It was also supported by the BRICS leaders," he said.
