Beijing calls for united anti-terrorism front led by UN - Chinese Foreign Minister

BEIJING. Nov 16 (Interfax) - The world should form a united front to combat terrorism, and the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) operating in China's Xinjiang should also become a target of the anti-terrorist fight, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has said.

"The UN's leading role should be brought into full play to combat terrorism, and a united front in this regard should be formed," the minister said on the G20 summit sidelines in Antalya, Turkey.

"China is also a victim of terrorism and the crackdown on the Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement should become an important part of the international fight against terrorism," he said.

The movement is listed as a terror group by the United Nations. It is active in the Xinjiang-Uyghur Autonomous Region of China.
