U.S.-Czech airborne team to inspect Russian military sites in Far East

MOSCOW. Nov 16 (Interfax-AVN) - A joint mission of the United States and the Czech Republic will perform an observation flight in Russia in the period from November 16 to 21 under the Open Skies Treaty, head of the Russian National Nuclear Threat Reduction Center Sergei Ryzhkov told reporters.

"The OS-135B U.S. observation aircraft will perform the flight from the [new] Khabarovsk airfield," he said.

OS-135B "belongs to the class of aircraft unequipped for carrying any weapons," he said.

The plane and its aero-cameras "have passed international certification involving Russian specialists which rules out the use of technical means unpermitted by the treaty," Ryzhkov said.
