One out of every three Russians supports degree of Russia's involvement in solution of Syrian conflict - poll

MOSCOW. Nov 16 (Interfax) - Russians, to this or that extent, follow the situation in Syria, and over one third of them support the current policies of the Russian authorities on Russia's involvement in the settlement of the conflict, sociologists said, citing the results of a poll conducted by the All-Russia Public Opinion Research Center on November 7-8.

In accordance with the poll, one out of every five respondents (20%) regularly follow the news on the situation in Syria. Half of the respondents (49%) check on recent events in the region from time to time, 30% do not show any interest in the conflict in Syria, and 1% are undecided.

Regarding the policy that the Russian administration should pursue in the Syrian conflict, 38% of respondents said this policy should stay as it is now. Fifteen percent of respondents believe Russia should "move more actively in this direction," while 22% of respondents assumed that the authorities should be more cautious and slow down their actions in the region. Thirteen percent of respondents said Russia should stop participation in the conflict and 12% were undecided.

The poll surveys 1,600 respondents living in 130 populated areas in 46 regions of Russia.
