MOSCOW. Nov 16 (Interfax) - Any anti-terrorism measures against ISIL should be taken under the UN aegis, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov said.
"It is necessary to unite and form a broad coalition for defeating ISIL, and it is necessary to make this coalition legitimate and efficient, [operating] under the UN aegis and strictly complying with international legal norms, including respect for sovereignty," he said at a Federation Council meeting on Monday.
"We invariably maintain a position supporting efforts of the of the UN Security Council Anti-Terrorism Committee and the Executive Directorate in the fulfillment of baseline anti-terrorism resolutions and work on substantive dialogue with engaged countries," he said.
