Armenia, Russia to set up joint defense ventures

YEREVAN. Nov 20 (Interfax) - Representatives the Russian military-industrial commission board are in Armenia to visit the facilities of several defense companies.

Oleg Bochkaryov, deputy chairman of the commission's board and chairman of the collegium of Russia's defense industrial council for CSTO, heads the Russian delegation that arrived in Yerevan at the invitation of the Armenian defense minister.

"The main purpose of the visit is to familiarize [ourselves] with Armenia's defense industry and search for new common ground in cooperation on setting up new joint ventures in the future," the defense ministry said in a statement.

The Russian delegation has visited a number of defense companies and met with Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and his deputy Alik Mirzabekyan, who leads the ministry's Department for Material and Technical Support.
