MOSCOW. Nov 30 (Interfax) - EU member countries will consider possible extension of the anti-Russian sanctions at a European Council meeting on December 18; the sanctions may be extended for another six months, a European diplomatic source told Interfax on Monday.
The European Council will converge on December 18, and a decision to extend the anti-Russian sanctions will be discussed, he said.
The source said he had heard about possible extension of the anti-Russian sanctions for six months rather than a year. This information may be coming from a senior European source, the diplomat said.
The sanctions are not a goal in themselves, he said, adding it would be better to concentrate on the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements.
The lifting of sanctions depends on progress in the implementation of the Minsk deal, he said.
