KYIV. Dec 2 (Interfax) - The Donbas militia continues to shell Ukrainian army positions, the army operation press center said on Wednesday morning.
According to the press center's report posted on Facebook, 20 militiamen approached a Ukrainian stronghold near Avdiivka on Tuesday evening and opened fire. "The Ukrainian servicemen immediately returned fire. The clash lasted for about 20 minutes," the report said.
The militia suffered casualties and retreated, the press center said.
The militia's random fire on Ukrainian army positions continued in the Donetsk and Artemivsk sector, it said. Berezove, Novhorodske, Opytne, Pisky and Maryinka came under attack of grenade launchers, large-caliber machineguns and small arms. Luhanske and Zaytseve were shelled by use of grenade launchers.
In addition, the press center reported five instances of precision fire by use of grenade launchers, large-caliber machineguns and small arms on Shyrokyne, Novhorodske and Hranitne. "The town of Hranitne was shelled by 82mm mortars," it said.
