BELGRADE. Dec 4 (Interfax) - Britain should receive consent of the Syrian government for air strikes on terrorists in Syria, this is in line with the UN Security Council resolution on the counteraction to the Islamic State terrorist grouping, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday.
"I heard that British Prime Minister David Cameron said that Resolution 2249, which was unanimously adopted after the terrorist attacks in Paris, grants the right to Britain to deliver these strikes on Syrian territory," Lavrov told reporters in Belgrade.
"I want to call attention to a very important fact: in this resolution the Security Council urges everybody, who can do this, to cooperate in the fight against ISIL on the basis of international law and, first and foremost, on the basis of the UN Charter, and coordinate their actions. This call is definitely addressed to the Syrian government, the government of the country in which ISIL is implementing its evil plans. And the call for coordination is addressed to all who are fighting ISIL," the Russian minister said.
