Russian ambassador meets with Turkish Foreign Ministry official - Russian embassy

MOSCOW/ANKARA. Dec 8 (Interfax) - The Russian embassy in Ankara has confirmed that Ambassador Andrei Karlov has been summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Igor Mityakov, press officer of the Russian diplomatic mission, said.

"We confirm that the ambassador had a meeting with a Turkish Foreign Ministry official," Mityakov told Interfax by phone, responding to a request to confirm that the Russian ambassador ha been summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

The Turkish media earlier reported that the Turkish Foreign Ministry has summoned Karlov in regard of the incident that occurred when a Russian naval ship passed the Bosphorus.

Some Turkish media have published photos allegedly showing a Russian serviceman holding a man-portable air-defense weapon standing on the deck of the destroyer Caesar Kunikov. According to the media reports, the photo was taken on December 6.
