Russian submarine approached Syria's Mediterranean coast - source

MOSCOW. Dec 8 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Black Sea Fleet's submarine Rostov-on-Don Project 636.3 has entered the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea as part of its inter-fleet passage and is now present not far from the Syrian coast, a source familiar with the situation told Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.

"The submarine is carrying Kalibr-PL cruise missiles, which are similar to [the missiles] used by Caspian flotilla ships against targets of the Islamic State (ISIL) terrorist group," he said.
