Russia to propose FATF to compile common intl list of terrorists - Federal Financial Monitoring Service head

MOSCOW. Dec 11 (Interfax) - Head of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service Yuri Chikhanchin has voiced several Russian initiatives within the fight against terrorism funding before a session of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

At the meeting Chikhanchin reminded of a forthcoming meeting of the group on the working out of financial measures in the fight against money laundering (FATF) and listed Russian proposals.

"This is the creation of a common international list of terrorists, so, those who are participating in ISIL," Chikhanchin said.

This decision is to be adopted by the UN Security Council, as it has been done regarding the decision on the list of Al-Qaeda militants, he said. Financial assets of these people should be frozen, Chikhanchin said.

Another package of issues, which the Russian side would like to raise at the FATF meeting, is the finding of financial centers which ISIL uses. Chikhanchin said at the meeting that this meant the surveillance on money transfers through these centers.

"We have the methods, these methods are currently launched in the CIS states under the aegis of the financial intelligence chiefs," Chikhanchin said.
