Russia to ship 1st battalion of S-300 air defense systems to Iran in near future - Deputy PM Rogozin

VLADIVOSTOK. Dec 18 (Interfax) - Iran should recall its lawsuit against Russia from an international court of arbitration after the first battalion of S-300 air defense missile systems are shipped to it in the near future under a new contract, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said.

"They should recall [the lawsuit] after the shipment of the first battalion," Rogozin told journalists in reply to a question on the matter on Friday.

"A precondition of this shipment is the unconditional withdrawal of the said lawsuit from an international court," he said.

At the same time, Rogozin did not say exactly when the first battalion of S-300 systems will be shipped to Iran, explaining that this is "a matter of contractual obligations."

He reiterated, however, that the shipment will be carried out "in the near future."
