No prospects seen for progress on new CFE Treaty - Russian diplomat

MOSCOW. Feb 10 (Interfax) - Moscow sees no prospects for lifting its moratorium on the implementation of the Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) Treaty, says Russian Foreign Ministry Nonproliferation and Arms Control Department Director Mikhail Ulyanov.

"Russia has imposed a moratorium on the CFE, we were prompted to do so for a long time," Ulyanov told journalists in Moscow.

"No prospects are visible for progress in this issue," he said.

A new CFE Treaty should meet modern realities, he said.
