MOSCOW. Feb 24 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and United States Secretary of State John Kerry spoke by telephone to discuss the Syrian problem, the Russian Foreign Ministry has said.
"In accordance with the instructions by presidents Putin and Obama who on February 22 approved a joint U.S.-Russian statement on the cessation of hostilities in Syria, excluding terror groups, the foreign-policy chiefs continued discussing the modalities of this process that requires close coordination of efforts between our countries, including between the military," the ministry said on its website.
"The pair discussed the swift resumption of intra-Syrian talks over political resolution of the conflict, as well as cooperation within the international Syria Support Group and the UN Security Council," it said.
The pair also exchanged their views on several issues regarding the bilateral agenda.
The conversation was initiated by the U.S. side, the ministry said.
