ASTANA. March 2 (Interfax) - The fulfillment of all ceasefire agreements for Syria by the sides will create conditions for lasting political settlement in that country, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has said.
"We welcome the Syria ceasefire agreement between Russia and the United States. We urge all the involved parties to fully implement the agreements. We are confident that this will help create conditions for lasing political settlement," Nazarbayev told heads of diplomatic missions in Astana on Wednesday.
"It would not be an exaggeration to say that the future of the entire world is now being determined in the Middle East. The Syria conflict has negative implications far outside the region. Such numbers of resettlers, refugees have not been seen since WWII. Disconnected actions of the international community in the fight against ISIL play into the hands of terrorists. This is why I have proposed to set up a single, global network for the deterrence of terrorism and extremism under the UN aegis. I think we will not succeed unless all countries are united in this struggle," he said.
