ASTANA. March 2 (Interfax) - As of early 2016, Kazakhstan has opened 205 criminal cases against its citizens involved in foreign military conflicts within international terrorist groups, Presidential Aide - Security Council Secretary Nurlan Yermekbayev has said, referring to the National Security Committee.
"Slightly more than 200 Kazakh citizens are involved in armed conflicts in Syria and Iraq, and their wives and militants' widows and children are staying together with them," Yermekbayev said at an international conference, 'New Global Reality: Regional Stability Challenges and Risks', in Astana on Wednesday.
"According to the information from the National Security Council, 205 criminal cases were opened as of early 2016 against Kazakh citizens involved in foreign military conflicts within international terrorist groups," he said.
