Russia calls for Kurds' participation in intra-Syrian negotiations (Part 2)

MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - Kurds should participate in the intra-Syrian negotiations which are expected to resume in Geneva on March 9, Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova said.

"Our position is that, of course, Kurds should be involved in the negotiation process under the aegis of the UN," Zakharova told a briefing on Wednesday, responding to a question as to whether Kurds will participate in the new round of the intra-Syrian negotiations.

Zakharova recalled that "all organizational work is being done by the UN."

"We are not reaching agreements with the organization, we are not deciding in private meetings who will be invited and who will not," Zakharova said.

Zakharova said that "we have a duty to state our opinion on this issue and we have stated it; this dialogue and negotiation process is incomplete without Kurds and it, of course, suffers from it very much."
