NALCHIK. March 3 (Interfax) - The authorities from constituent territories of the North Caucasus Federal District need to boost the security of tourists and local tourist facilities, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev has said.
"It is necessary to ensure tourist facilities' compliance with security standards, for instance, through the provision of modern technical means, and emergency prevention, and cleanup systems," Patrushev said at a conference on tourism and food security in the North Caucasus Federal District on Thursday.
Security threats to guests of tourist facilities must be monitored, he said.
"First of all, control over ski run equipment and activity of tour operators needs to be enhanced, in accordance with the law," Patrushev said.
"The owners of tourist facilities shall bolster anti-terrorism protection of recreation sites, and the controlling bodies shall enhance the overseeing of the owners' compliance with the recommendations given upon checks," he said.
