DPR claims 'silence regime' violated 68 times over 24 hrs by Ukrainian side

MOSCOW. March 3 (Interfax) - Almost 400 instances of shelling in 68 violations of the ceasefire on the part of the Ukrainian military have been recorded by the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) over the past 24 hours, the Donetsk News Agency said, citing the DPR Defense Ministry.

"Ukrainian forces shelled the territory of the Republic 390 times in 68 instances of violation of the ceasefire regime. The situation at the contact line has escalated dramatically," the agency said, citing a DPR Defense Ministry official.

The Ukrainian side used 120mm mortars 69 times and 82mm mortars 219 times, according to the news agency. The opposing side also fired 11 times, using the weapons mounted on an infantry fighting vehicle. Besides, the Ukrainian forces fired various kinds of grenade launchers, air defense mounts and small arms, the news agency said.

The DPR Defense Ministry claim that such residential communities as Zaitseve (northern Horlivka), Spartak, Zhabicheve and Staromyhailivka came under fire this time, as well as the areas around Donetsk airport and the Volvo center on the outskirts of Donetsk and the village of Kominternove, according to the news agency.
