Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Bogdanov, Syrian politician Jamil call for involvement in intra-Syrian talks of moderate opposition activists, including Kurds

MOSCOW. March 3 (Interfax) - Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian presidential special envoy on the Middle East and the African countries and deputy foreign minister of Russia, has met with Qadri Jamil, a representative of the Syrian opposition Popular Front for Change and Liberation, the Russian Foreign Ministry has reported.

"The two men discussed a set of issues relating to political settlement in Syria, including the implementation of the Russian-U.S. agreements on the cessation of hostilities in this country from February 27. The meeting focused on the resumption in Geneva under the aegis of the UN of negotiations between representatives of the Syrian government and the opposition in accordance with the provisions of Resolution 2254 of the UN Security Council, which is planned for the nearest future," the report says.

"The meeting participants called for the involvement in these negotiations of all relevant Syrian parties as envisaged by the Munich statement by the International Syria Support Group of February 11, including opposition activists who share the Moscow and Cairo political platforms, including representatives of the Kurdish forces," the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
