Court returns treason case against Petrin to prosecutor's office - lawyer

MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax) - The Moscow City Court Friday returned to the Prosecutor General's Office a criminal case against former official of the Moscow Patriarchate's External Church Relations Department Yevgeny Petrin, who is accused of high treason in favor of the United States, his lawyer Ivan Pavlov told Interfax.

"Today the Moscow City Court returned the case against our client to the Prosecutor General's Office to remove the violations, which took place during the preliminary investigation," Pavlov said.

In spite of the law's requirement the investigator did not include in the indictment that the defendant asked to summon witnesses for the defense to the court.
