Lavrov: only Turkey blocks invitation to Kurdish Democratic Union party to intra-Syrian talks (Part 2)

MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - The absence of Kurds at the negotiations in Geneva shows the weakness of the international community, and UN Special Representative on Syria Staffan de Mistura should invite them to participate, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"The beginning of negotiations without this group, like all other groups that I have mentioned, just shows the weakness of the international community; only the Turks are blocking the invitation of the Democratic Union Party," Lavrov told a press conference following negotiations with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.

The minister said that "the other participants in the International Syria Support group have definitely been all for Kurds' participation from the very beginning of the negotiation process."

"I am confident that Staffan de Mistura should take a relevant decision," Lavrov said.
