Syrian truce violated six times in past 24 hours - Reconciliation Centre (Part 2)

MOSCOW. March 22 (Interfax) - The ceasefire in Syria has been violated six times in the past 24 hours, according to the Centre for Reconciliation between warring parties.

"The ceasefire has generally held. Six violations have been recorded in the past 24 hours: five in Latakia province and one in Hama," the Centre said in an information bulletin published on the Russian Defense Ministry's website on Tuesday.

In Latakia province, unidentified armed groups fired mortars from Shamruran against Karajebez and Kermel, according to the bulletin.

Militants claiming to be from the opposition Ahrar ash-Sham group, fired mortars against Syrian army positions near Ard al-Wata and Roisit-Risho, according to the bulletin.

"Militants from the Ketib al-Faruh armed group in Izedin, and Aidum, in the Hama province, used five tanks in an attempt to attack government troops near Ramliya and Tell-Derra. The Syrian armed forces had to fire back at the detected targets of the advancing group," reads the bulletin.

"Yet another working meeting was held as a telephone conference between the leaders of the Russian and United States coordination centers (at the Khmeimim air base and in Amman, respectively," the Centre said.

The U.S. was informed about the ceasefire breaches recorded in Aleppo and Latakia provinces in the previous days. The parties discussed problems relating to control over the ceasefire and ways to resolve them, according to the bulletin.
