Syria's possible disintegration has been averted - Commander of Russian group in Syria

MOSCOW. March 23 (Interfax) - The threat of Syria's disintegration has been eradicated, Col. Gen. Alexander Dvornikov, Commander of the Russian group in Syria, said.

"The possible disintegration of the country has been averted," he said in his interview with the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper that is due to be published on Thursday.

"Despite the violations that we have been recording, the regime of the cessation of hostilities in Syria is generally observed. It is in the provinces of Hama and Homs that the reconciliation progresses the most actively. We hope that the hostilities will stop completely in these areas in the nearest future," he said.
