Transforming Transdniestria peacekeeping operation to become possible after actual accords reached with Chisinau - Russian diplomat (Part 2)

MOSCOW. April 7 (Interfax) - The possibility of transforming the peacekeeping operation in Transdniestia may be put up for discussion after the sides in the conflict reach actual political agreements, the Russian Foreign Ministry's Ambassador at Large Sergei Gubarev has said.

"There is an understanding that the issue of the peacekeeping operation's transformation and reformatting will inevitably be raised, but, in my opinion, only when the sides reach actual political agreements," he said during a TV linkup with Chisinau on Thursday.

The peacekeeping operation "has shown its effectiveness," he said.

"Not a single member of peacekeeping contingents, not a single peacekeeper has been injured over all these years," the diplomat said.
