YEREVAN. April 7 (Interfax) - Another serviceman injured in the outbreak of tensions which started in the small hours of April 2 has been transported from Nagorno-Karabakh to Yerevan, head of the Armenian Defense Ministry military medical department Col. Kamavor Khachatryan has said.
"In all, 121 servicemen have been injured since the beginning of the hostilities. Thirty-one servicemen have been transported to Yerevan, including five on the critical list - one of them is a volunteer and another is a contract serviceman," Khachatryan said at a press conference on Thursday.
Another ten servicemen are in a serious condition, he said.
"Ninety percent of servicemen will be discharged within a week. They will go back to their bases," Khachatryan said.
Tensions in the Karabakh conflict zone abruptly escalated in the small hours of April 2. Hostilities engaging aircraft and artillery began. The sides traded accusations of breach of ceasefire along the contact line, as well as claiming substantial losses on the part of their adversary and limited losses of their own.
On April 5, Baku and Stepanakert, the capital of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, announced that an agreement had been reached to cease fire in the Karabakh conflict area from midday local time.
However, on Wednesday the sides continued to trade accusations of breaches of the truce agreement.
