Russian Defense Ministry is ready to spend huge funds on development of various drones - deputy defense minister

YEKATERINBURG. April 7 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Defense Ministry has a huge need for various types of drones, despite the fact that their number increased dramatically in the army over the past three years, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yury Borisov said.

"The need for various classes of drones is huge. A colossal step was made in this direction over the past three years: the Russian army dramatically increased the number of drones. And that niche will stay attractive to the industry for a long time," Borisov said, during a visit to the Urals Civil Aviation Plant on Thursday.

He said the Defense Ministry is ready to spend huge amounts of funding on the development of various types of drones. The Defense Ministry needs tactical, operative, strategic, and attack drones equipped with various sensors, including television, radar, and radiotechniclal.

"No military conflict now takes places without the use of drone aviation. All information, all reconnaissance is now done using these devices. It will be one of the main trends in the development of weapons systems in the next 10-15 years," Borisov said.
