Russia-U.S. memorandum on prevention of incidents in Syrian airspace proves to be efficient - Russian Defense Ministry (Part 2)

MOSCOW. May 11 (Interfax-AVN) - High representatives of the Russian and U.S. defense ministries held another videoconference on Wednesday to discuss implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on Prevention of Flight Safety Incidents in the course of operations in the Syrian Arab Republic of December 20, 2015, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"It was noted that the Memorandum demonstrated its high efficiency over the seven months since it was signed," the ministry's press service said in a release received by Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.

"The communication channels, created under the aforementioned document, help minimize the risk of incidents between planes from the Russian Aerospace Forces and the U.S.-led coalition," according to the ministry.

"The contacts will continue between Russian and American experts through bilateral channels. It has been agreed to hold the next videoconference in late June 2016," the ministry said.
