KYIV. May 23 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte in Istanbul, at which the two discussed Kyiv's European integration prospects, the Ukrainian presidential press service reports.
The meeting took place during Poroshenko's working visit to Turkey, to take part in the UN World Humanitarian Summit.
"The main points on the agenda of the talks between the two heads of state were the entry into effect of the Ukrainian-EU Association Agreement, and the completion of the European Union's process of introducing visa-free travel for Ukrainian citizens," it said.
The Netherlands held a consultative referendum on April 6, regarding the ratification of the Ukrainian-EU Association Agreement, in which 61% (about 2.5 million people) voted against the agreement and 38.21% (about 1.57 million people) supported it.
The Dutch parliament later voted against repelling the legislation on the agreement's ratification.
The Dutch government plans to assess the referendum's results within six months.
Poroshenko and Rutte also discussed the situation in Donbas, during their meeting in Istanbul. Poroshenko stressed that he expected the European Union's solidarity and unity in supporting Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, particularly as it regards the preservation of its sanctions against Russia, until it fully implements the Minsk Agreements, and until the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity.
"The leaders of Ukraine and the Netherlands also coordinated their joint actions in investigating the crash of Flight MH17, which was brought down in July 2014," it said.
