MOSCOW. June 1 (Interfax) - Russia and the United States, which co-chair the International Syria Support Group (ISSG), are discussing a High Negotiations Committee (HNC) initiative to introduce truce in Syria during Ramadan, the United Nations said.
"We are aware of this proposal which is also being discussed between the co-chairs of the ISSG in the larger framework of consolidating the cessation of hostilities," Josephine Guerrero, a spokesperson for the office of UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, told Interfax.
"Any consideration to de-escalate the fighting on the ground is most welcome especially during the holy month of Ramadan," she said.
